WARNINGS

To all mommies of both the human and puppy/kitty type!
Your children can make you age at the drop of a hat!

Goober woke up with just a wee bit of a snotty nose on Friday. By the end of the night she was coughing. She kept waking up crying and not being able to breathe without coughing, so I brought her into bed with me. This way I could sit up and she could lay against me and it would help her breathe. It worked okay till about 3 am, when her breathing became rather fast and shallow. I thought if I could just get her take some Tylenol for her slight fever then maybe that will calm her down. Yeah, it didn't. Even when she had fallen into a deep sleep, her breathing was quite fast. When SIL woke up I told her the symptoms, knowing that she would check her medical books, she quickly diagnosed either RSV (nasty nasty respiratory illness) or pneumonia. I called the on call doctor and off we went to the ER. Chest x-rays were taken and yep, it was pneumonia. We are now on antibiotics and feeling pretty darn good. We at the amazing age of 20 months can recognize 5 letters ( o, a, s, n, e) (toot toot!) hee hee.

Bug on the other hand is seriously three (almost four) going on thirteen! We had an argument about her clothes. She feels that she is a very beautiful princess who needs dresses that go down to her ankles. Any other type of dress is just plain ugly. Well, she only has two dresses that go down to her ankles and they were both dirty. I told her to go put on some clothes for the day. She informed me that she didn't have any. I told her to go look in her drawer and if she didn't have an outfit on by the time I came upstairs I was going to pick something out. I found her wearing her dirty dress! I took it off her and gave her one more chance to pick out an outfit. Nope, threw a huge old fit. "I DON'T LOVE YOU ANYMORE, I AM GOING TO CALL THE POLICE MAN TO TAKE YOU AWAY AND I WILL LIVE BY MYSELF. THAT IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU DON'T LET ME WEAR MY BEAUTIFUL PRINCESS DRESS! She then collapsed into a huge fit of tears onto the bed. It took 20 minutes for her to finally calm down to put on an outfit. Sigh...

On the puppy front. Dementia is our West Highland White Terrier. She is about 10 years old. About 3 months ago she was having pain going pee. Well, she had a UTI and kidney failure. Now, the KF is in the beginning stages and there is medicine we can give her, unfortunately it would be called steroids. Dementia has massive allergies and has been taking antihistamines twice a day for the last 6 years and steroid every other day for about 4 of those years. The steroids are what caused the KF. Now the UTI has been cleared up but now she has ear infections. Chronic ear infections. Oh yeah, she also has a cyst on her eye lid. Westies are cute and lovely but so inbred that it is just sad. So, I took her into the vet to see about getting another round of antibiotics for the ear infection. I left with ointment for her eye, more allergy meds, antibiotics, and ear cream. HOORAY! It's a good thing she is so freaking cute and I think of her as one of my kids...Seriously, if you choose to have a pet, it's for life. I stop at nothing for my children, including my pets!

I'm so sorry to hear about Goober becoming so sick so fast. What a fright. Good thing you got her to the ER. As for Bug and her princess attire, we haven't reached the favorite clothes thing yet. Hopefully for us it'll be easier with a little boy.

Poor Dementia. I had a Westie a lot of years ago - the sweetest dog I've ever owned. I love that breed. She only ever had skin "hot spots", so we were lucky. Yep, you do that you've got to for your children and pets. Hang in there, and good luck with all of them.
