Goober story

Goober was a Thanksgiving pregnancy. She wasn't due until the very end of August. I got to enjoy a very decent summer while I was pregnant with her. It wasn't too hot and we had just installed a heat pump in our house so we had air conditioning. Very very nice. Goober wasn't a big mover at all and there were several times where I would lay a cold towel on one side of my stomach to make sure she would move. There was one time, early on, when I was spotting and I was terrified. I knew that she would be my last baby that I would carry, so I wanted everything to be perfect and she was being stubborn.

About the middle of August 2006 I went to my weekly OB appointment on Monday where they did an ultrasound and discovered that I didn't have a whole lot a fluid around the baby. I was then sent up to the hospital for a stress test to make sure that Goober was okay. They strapped a heart monitor around my belly and gave me a push button. Every time I felt movement I was to push that button. Let me tell you, that stubborn little baby hadn't moved worth crap all week but in this hour long test she was just rolling all over the place. The doctors told me that the heart and stress test came out fine but that she wanted to see me on that Wednesday. The next day we received the news that a good friend's mother's funeral was to be on that Friday. We talked to the doctor on that Wednesday and asked if I would be able to attend the funeral, No, I was told because the 5 hour round trip drive would be to much. She released me to go to work the next day and okayed me for the following week as well. I only had the next week to complete than I was on maternity leave.

Hubby and I agreed that it would be good for him to attend the funeral and for him to give everyone my love. I sat at home after being admonished by Hubby that I was NOT to go into labor. My MIL and FIL had just left for their much anticipated vacation to Whistler BC (a 9 hour drive away) Before they left, they told me I was not to go into labor. So I rested all day on Friday. I sat in front of the TV and only moved to make Bug food. At about 10pm on Friday. I layed down next to Bug in my bed and rolled over to kiss her goodnight when, yep, my water broke. I yelled for my SIL. "My water just broke." "Are you f*cking serious?" "Yep" So out come the frantic phone calls to Hubby and my MIL/FIL. Hubby finally made it to the hospital about 2 hours later. While MIL/FIL had just made it to the hotel in Whistler, where they instantly turned around to come and see the birth.

The second baby is easy. My labor didn't even start until 3am on Saturday. I was smart this time and took the epidural around 10am. Very handsome man to come and save me. I had him and the nurse just cracking up as I was telling him he had very gentle sexy hands. My doctor came in and told me that she had to leave for a couple hours and that she would be back and that I wasn't close to giving birth yet. She lied. I gave birth to Goober 2 1/2 hours later. It was so easy, true I had the epidural, but compared to Bug, it was smooth. She was two weeks early and weighed almost the same as Bug, who had been a half hour late. She had beautiful chocolate brown eyes that she still has and this dark brown spiky hair, that has gradually gone blonde. My girls are so beautiful.

So I meant to..

post this wonderful blog about the birth of my second child...heck I meant to post one about my first born, but what can I say but I am lazy.

I got pregnant with Bug in August of 2003. I knew from the second week that I was pregnant and it was a wonderful journey. I loved being pregnant, as long as I wasn't tossing my stomach. I love watching her roll across the inside of my stomach. I loved how I looked when I was pregnant. I just loved her to pieces already. She was due at the end of May so I was very much looking forward to NOT being pregnant in the summer. It was my first and everyone was telling me about how it will take forever and the first one is always the hardest....THEY ARE RIGHT!

I became dehydrated and went into early labor on a Tuesday night. We called the doctor and they asked how close the pains were and had my water broke. The pains came and went and my water hadn't broken yet. They told me to stay home. So I spent all Tuesday night having contractions and all Wednesday having contractions with me walking up and down our road and having people rub my back. I had no appetite and hadn't slept. The contractions would be hard and fast for an hour and then I wouldn't have one for two hours. Very irregular. I couldn't take it anymore so we went up to the hospital (a hour away), to have them tell me I wasn't even close! So back home I went, where I spent Wednesday night and all of Thursday in more labor. Finally on Thursday night at 10 my water broke and we drove up to the hospital. I was checked and I was only dilated to a 2. 5am dilated to a 5, 2pm Dilated to a 7, Friday at 8pm dilated to a 91/2 where the doctor informs me to take the epidural so that my body can relax and sleep so that the baby can come out...otherwise I was having a C-section. I took the epidural and let me tell you it was heaven on earth. I just melted...All the pain that I had been having since Tuesday was finally gone. I just dozed off and on as I can hear my sister in the background say wow! that was off the charts. They had given me a drug to speed up the labor. About 10pm I tell the nurse that the epidural was wearing off and I really needed to push. So about 10:30 with a audience of 10 people, nana, grandma, grandpa, grandma, auntie, 2 cousins, hubby, SIL, and a friend, I began to push and at 12:30am on saturday out came Bug.

She was the cutest little thing with these huge blue eyes and this wild and crazy hair the stuck straight up. She still is the cutest little thing! It's very hard to believe that she is 4 years old and will be starting school next month. What happened to the wee little thing that I was able to cradle against my chest?

bored

My yard looks fantastic. Now we (by ourselves) are working on the back yard and eventually we will make it into the japanese garden. I planted Bug's flower bed, I even tossed in some pumpkin seeds to see what happens. Did I mention how great my yard looks?

Yardwork

Our yard has massively gotten out of hand. It is ugly. Huge ferns, ivy, and basically massively overgrown. For those who are Demon Hunters fans...the garden scene....yeah it's more like a freaking jungle scene. Now, we want to sell the house so we have to up the curb appeal so I suggested to Hubby that we should hire a landscaping crew to come and just fix up the front yard. He agreed and told me to start looking into getting an estimate. Well, if you just let your yard go for a year or two and have a nasty wicked storm, eventually they drive by your house and start dropping off cards. :) I decide to go with this one crew. They are just starting out and nicer than heck. They are two guys who use to work for another landscaping company but went out on their own. They are kicking some serious butt. I wish that I had taken before shots because it looks really good. I am just so excited about it.

Bug on the other hand is quite furious with me. Mostly because they took out the weeds (aka flowers) So she has demanded on several occasions for me to put the garden the way it was. At one point she told me that she needed to speak to me privately because she needed the men to put the garden the way it was. I promised her a special little area where she can grow her flowers though. I can't wait till they are done!

whim

Bug has been having swimming lessons. She rocks at it. She has no fear of the water and yet understands that it is not to cool to have it up your nose. So Bug respects it. The teacher for the first few days has them in the kiddie pool and then takes them over to the lap pool and has them stand at the edge of the pool and jump in, she catches them of course. The other kids in her class will stand up on their own but to that leaning over as far as they can trying to reach the teacher before they just sorta plop in. Not BUG, as soon as the kid in front of her has jumped in she is on her feet waiting for the teacher to give the go ahead. The teacher takes a few steps back and Bug just leaps all wild like into the pool. I think she knows that there is someone to help her out but the look of pure joy on her face while she is in the water is just wonderful to watch.

While getting ready for Bug's swimming lessons an advertisement caught my eye. The Y was having a local Biggest Loser Contest. Now, I know of people who have signed up for previous tries and didn't get in cause they had so many contestants, so I thought I will give it a try. Mostly since Bug likes to play the BIG FAT BELLY DRUM. Plus, they post your picture, weight, and body measurements in the local paper, so I figure public humiliation might, just might, get me motivated to finally lose these 50 lbs I have put on in the last 10 years. Just this week I got a phone call that I am on a biggest loser team. It starts on September 1st. Then on September 9th I go to my first meeting. I will tell you this, I weigh 195. My bmi and body fat percentage are basically the same number...39 or something like that. I will post the actually amounts on the 9th when I get more information. So join me in my public humiliation!

The way they talk

"Daddy do you have any brothers?" asks Bug.

"Not biological(i know big word, trust me she knows what it means) but Uncle Matt is my brother."

"Uncle Matt? The one that belongs to Aunt Kim?"

"No, that's mommy's brother."

"Oh, you mean FUNNY Uncle Matt from California who belongs to Aunt Camille."

"Yes, that is the one."

Goober can talk and correct you when you think you are wrong.

"What shape is this Goober?"

"Apple"

"It looks like an apple but it's a circle."

this is where she grabs my cheek with one hand looks me in my eyes and points a finger in my face...

"Listen Mommy, I tell you apple, okay?"
