Relay For Life

Today was the last fundraiser for my Cancer Walk team. We had a barbecue and let me tell you, it was a beautiful 75 degree day. Blue skys with enough breeze that it wasn't too hot. Very nice, considering I was the one next to the large 400 degree grill cooking hot dogs. While I was out there I had the time to do one of my favorite activities, people watch. Let me tell you there is nothing like seeing a crack w#%re wearing a string bikini top with low low jeans that she has so generously allowed us to see her G-string bikini. It was beautiful. Goodness, I love the Harbor. Lots of skinny, fat, old, young people out today. However, one of the more memorable ones is the 65 year old MAN, who was diagnosed with breast cancer 7 years ago on Sept 11, 2001. He found lumps on the sides of his chest and went into to see his doctor. The doctor told him they were just fatty deposits and not to worry about it. The gentleman went home and his wife discovered that she had lung cancer. This got the gentleman to thinking that maybe I could have lymphoma. So he goes to see another doctor. He has a breast exam, then a mammogram, and is diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer. The gentleman had a mastectomy. 2 years after his diagnosis his wife lost her battle with cancer. The gentleman has been in remission for 5 years now...

I relay for the people who can't. I choose to give up my free time to raise money to fight CANCER. I choose to stay walk around a track and get blisters on my feet because the pain I feel for a brief moment is only a fraction of the pain I would feel if I had cancer. My mother is a 1 year survivor, Lord willing she will go in to remission. My grandfather lost his battle with prostate cancer. My friend Jamie's mother is a 15 year survivor of breast cancer. My friend Edith, just this week, lost her sister to breast cancer. My friend JoAnne lost her mother to pancreatic cancer. My friend, Tena lost her mother and her sister within a month to this horrible disease. My friend Jo, lost her father to cancer. My friend Milinda's father is battling cancer as we speak. My friend Camille lost her mother to cancer. My new friend A. had eye cancer. I relay for all of these people.

Please say a PRAYER on May 30 and 31, as we, as a community, walk for 24 hours to try and raise 500,000 dollars to help beat out cancer.

Thank you!
