Back on the subject of the Cancer Walk/Relay for Life. My team fund raises all year long to try and raise as much money as possible. This year we raised 4,015.50 for our team! That is $600 more than last year. We are pretty excited about it. For 2009 we have already raised $57 dollars so we are pretty pumped. If you have never been to a Relay event, I encourage you to go. It is the most amazing feeling. Here is something so very simple that an individual can do to help fight cancer. Just walking on a track for 24 hours. It is the one of the best feelings in the world. I can't tell you how many times I cried that weekend. Just to know I was doing something. I am in awe of our county. For an area this poor, we raise some damn good money. I went to a team captain meeting and the lady who was on the national board was there and she said we are AMAZING. Our little tiny county can raise more money that say, THURSTON. and that is NOT per capita. If our little community can raise that kind of money towards cancer research than imagine if all communities did the same...
Another subject...
I was out walking with the girls (gas prices being ugly and all) and passed by the Wal-mart where they were handing out kittens (kids not Walmart) I jokingly text me SIL to ask if she wanted a kitten. "Yeah, I can't afford it though." Then 1/2 hour later I get another text. "look in the paper for free kittens." I text her the info... When she got home tonight, I met Impulse (aka Imp) a 7 week old tiny beautiful blue gray tabby. She can fit in the palm of my hand. I love the name... I told her that she was going to be Crazy Cat Lady down the street if she keeps it up. Some choice words came out of her mouth... Then she took her dinner and went into her room to spend time with the new kitten and her other two cats.
